Linda Hamilton signs on as Special Celebrity Guest for Ken-Mar Rescue’s “Brunching with the Stars” March 26, 2011

(Silver Lake, CA) Linda Hamilton of “Terminator” fame, and more recently of NBC’s “Chuck” has signed on as a Special Celebrity Guest at Ken-Mar Rescue’s star-studded fundraiser, “Brunching with the Stars” to be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011.

  

  Hamilton will deliver the Welcome Speech at the event to be held in a private residence in Malibu. “We’re thrilled to have Linda as a part of our event,” according to Martie Petrie, who, along with Ken Guild founded Ken-Mar Rescue in 2007. “She’s a wonderful person and a true animal lover.” “We hosted a Wine, Cheese and Chocolate event in November and it was an amazing success,” Petrie continued. “Our goal for this event is a more personal experience for those attending.”

  The number of tickets sold will be limited, allowing guests access to all the celebrities in attendance. Due to the long lead time, not all the celebrities have been currently confirmed.

 Ken-Mar Rescue is a no-kill dog rescue organization based in Silver Lake California. It is dedicated to helping end the overwhelming overpopulation of dogs in Southern California and beyond. In its four years, Ken-Mar Rescue has saved hundreds of dogs’ lives by rescuing dogs from shelters where a dog could be euthanized in a short amount of time due to lack of capacity.

 These dogs receive medical & behavioral evaluations, then are taken to the vet to be micro-chipped, sterilized and brought up-to-date on shots. Many of the dogs need and receive additional veterinary care, from nail trimming to extensive surgery; Ken-Mar Rescue provides all needed care. Only then are the dogs available for adoption.

  Fundraisers such as the “Brunching with the Stars” are one way Ken-Mar Rescue generates the income to provide this much needed care.

Yvonne Strahovski Touts Ken-Mar Rescue in Parade Magazine!

Yvonne Strahovski, star of the NBC show "Chuck," adopted an orphan from us. She has been a huge supporter of our work including supporting our fund-raising events. She was interviewed for "Parade Magazine", the national supplement included in most Sunday morning newspapers, and mentioned the outreach she received when she twittered about her work with Ken-Mar Rescue.
